Barwon Park, Franklin St Matraville.
What to bring
We encourage you to bring:
- Picnic rugs and ground seating
- Hat and sunscreen
- A healthy appetite! The food and beverage suppliers/sponsors have been waiting since last year to serve you again.
- Your mobile phone; if you have young children.
- Plenty of Christmas cheer!
- If you bring your pet, please supervise its behaviour and clean-up if necessary. Christmas costumes are encouraged.
What NOT to bring
- Disposable plastic ground cover
- Elevated seating and large beach umbrellas
- Glass products
- Sparklers / Fireworks
- Tents or marquees
- BBQs
- Bean bags or inflatable furniture
- Please note, this is a family event it is alcohol restricted. Only bring small quantities of alcohol according to the safe drinking standards. Intoxication will not be permitted.
Information / Lost Children
- There is an Information Booth/ Lost Children Booth located at the Volunteers/Candles Tent western side of the park.
- This booth is manned by WWC certified volunteers. Volunteer staff, Police and roaming security staff will be able to assist with a lost child or general event enquiries. Please assist the Carols Team with lost kids by writing your mobile phone number on their arm or carry your contact number. This way we can contact you sooner. Announcements may be made by the MC from the stage.
Parking and Neighbours
- We thank the neighbours who share this park with us every year.
- We appreciate the neighbours who festoon their homes with Christmas lights and decorations.
- There is very limited parking available and street closures and traffic control measures may be in place in some streets adjacent to the park.
- No on-site parking is available to the public.
- If possible, walk to the event. Please don’t encroach upon driveways or nature strips. Parking is available at Club Matto.
- Please limit noise when leaving the event.
Public Amenities
Standard toilet blocks and Accessibility toilets are located along the southern perimeter Franklin Street end of Barwon Park.
Please limit use of Accessibility toilets to those who need them.
Please flush toilets after use, wash your hands and don’t waste toilet paper. Extra toilet paper is available at the Volunteers/Candle tent. Please notify if replenishing is needed.
There is no reserved seating section the event is entirely free to patrons and is lawn seating only.
Patrons are encouraged to bring picnic rugs and seating such as deck/camping chairs with low legs.
Preserving the Parklands
Please respect the beautiful environment of Barwon Park whilst you are enjoying Carols.
Randwick City Council provide rubbish bins. Please use the bins as the final clean-up is done by volunteers …

Lost property can be handed in to the Information / Candles Booth western side of the park.
All Lost Property will remain onsite until 10:00 pm and then taken to Matraville RSL the next day.

Volunteers and Candles
The only Candle sales and lighting sales permitted on the night is from the Volunteer tent. This is a major source of fund raising for the event.
